Niobec Inc. has ratified a new five-year collective agreement with its 350 blue-collar workers in Saint-Honoré, Que., bringing an end to recent negotiations and clearing the way for a full return to operations.

The agreement, which expires April 30, 2030, includes what the company described as “meaningful improvements” to both working conditions and compensation. Employees voted to approve the deal on Thursday evening.

A full return to work is expected on June 28.

“We are delighted to have reached an agreement that is fair and equitable for all parties,” said Patrick Chabot, general manager at Niobec. “We look forward to continuing to work together to operate our site safely and efficiently for many years to come.”

Niobec, in operation since 1976, is one of only three primary niobium producers in the world. The element is used to manufacture high-strength steel products, which are critical in construction, transportation, and energy sectors.
